Tech help for the orgs
everyone else overlooks.

Technology consulting for small community organizations working on immigrant rights, LGBTQ+ causes and humanitarian work. Email that works, websites that stay up, cloud systems that make sense, and security that keeps your people safe, from someone who's spent fifteen years building and protecting enterprise systems.

Not sure whether your problem counts as "tech"? If it logs in, plugs in or lives online, ask.

Who we serve

Small orgs. Big missions.

Groups doing essential work often run on donated laptops, shared passwords and whatever the last volunteer set up. Many are also targets. Helping them run on technology they can trust is the whole reason this company exists.

01 · lgbtq+ nonprofits

Community & advocacy orgs

Centers, youth programs, and advocacy groups facing coordinated harassment and targeted attacks, not just generic cybercrime.

02 · immigrant rights & humanitarian

Legal aid & relief groups

Immigrant legal clinics, refugee and resettlement programs, and humanitarian relief groups holding sensitive records on people who can't afford a leak.

03 · grassroots groups

Volunteer-run organizations

Mutual aid, reproductive rights, and racial justice groups running on donated time and small budgets.

04 · mission-aligned small biz

Values-driven small businesses

LGBTQ+-owned, immigrant-owned and mission-aligned businesses that need dependable tech and real security, without enterprise-firm pricing.

What we do

Security, cloud and everything in between.

No jargon dumps. Every engagement ends with a clear explanation and work that actually gets done — not a PDF that sits in a drawer.

01
Tech & security review
A look at how your org actually runs: website, email, accounts, devices and cloud services. What's working, what's fragile and what's exposed, scoped and agreed in writing before anything starts.
Most requested
02
Fixes & hardening
Fixing what we find, from software updates and broken backups to account access and website protections. Done for you, not just reported to you.
Hands-on
03
Ongoing monitoring
Regular check-ins so new problems, and new vulnerabilities, get caught early. Sized to fit a small org's budget.
Retainer
04
Board & staff training
Plain-language sessions on the tools you use, phishing, passwords and what to do when something goes wrong, built for people without a technical background.

Beyond security

Most of what small orgs need is everyday technology that just works. That's covered too.

Cloud building & consulting
Architecture, setup, and advice for orgs building out cloud infrastructure from scratch or leveling up an existing one.
Websites & hosting
Building, moving or rescuing your website, and keeping it fast, updated and online.
Ongoing maintenance
Keeping systems patched, running, and healthy after the initial build — not a one-and-done handoff.
Email hosting & setup
Reliable, properly configured email for your org — including the security basics (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) most small orgs miss.
Automation
Scripting away repetitive manual work — deployments, backups, reporting — so your small team's time goes further.
Office tech & servers
Servers, networks and equipment in your own space, not just in the cloud.
How it works

Straightforward, from first call to finished work.

Step 1

Conversation

A short call to understand what you run and what you're worried about.

Step 2

A plan in writing

A clear scope of work — what we'll do, when, and what it costs — agreed before anything begins.

Step 3

The work

Reviews, builds and fixes happen in the agreed window, planned around your day-to-day so nothing grinds to a halt.

Step 4

Plain-language wrap-up

What we did, what we found and what comes next, explained so your whole team can follow it.

"Lamplight Consulting" started as a question: what does it look like to show up for small community groups working on immigrant rights, LGBTQ+ causes and humanitarian work, with the skills I actually have?

Fifteen years in cloud engineering and devsecops taught me how enterprise systems get built, run and protected — and how rarely that know-how reaches the organizations that need it most.

Small nonprofits and grassroots groups are frequently the most exposed and the least resourced: no IT budget, no tech staff, and often a target painted on their back simply for doing the work they do.

This company exists to close that gap — bringing real, enterprise-grade technology and security practice to the organizations mainstream firms don't see, and won't chase.
